Where your water comes from depends on where you live.
We get water from reservoirs, lakes and streams – even underground aquifers.
All our water is treated at our water treatment plants to make sure it’s safe to drink before it travels through our large network of pipes to the taps in your homes and workplaces.
Our local water supply systems
We have 14 water supply systems. We take water for aquifers (groundwater), rivers, creeks and reservoirs to supply our customers. Our largest storage is Moondarra Reservoir, south of Erica.
We also take water from storages managed by Southern Rural Water (Blue Rock Dam and Lake Glenmaggie) and Melbourne Water (Tarago Reservoir).
Water that is sourced from nature is called raw water. We treat this water at one of our water treatment plants to ensure it is safe to drink.
