Steph - Wastewater Treatment Technologist
“I love that work I do helps to protect our environment and the ecology of local waterways."
Steph is a Wastewater Treatment Technologist. She loves gaining hands-on skills out in the field and facing new challenges each day.
Steph studied microbiology at uni and puts her degree to work by leading a small team to optimise plant performance, solve operational issues and engage new technologies to drive process efficiencies. Steph is currently studying engineering at uni and has plans to design and build water and wastewater treatment plants.

Michael – Operational Data and Optimisation Engineer
Michael says it was his grandfather’s passion and stories about his work as an aeronautical engineer that inspired him to pursue a career in engineering.
After completing his Bachelor of Mechatronic Systems Engineering with Federation University, Michael joined us as a Graduate SCADA Engineer. Now he's our Operational Data and Optimisation Engineer.
Michael highly recommends the water industry and Gippsland Water's graduate program to local students and engineering graduates looking to start their career.

Rowena - Wastewater Treatment Technologist
Rowena's been with us since 2017 and is our Wastewater Treatment Technologist at our Gippsland Water Factory.
She's responsible for day-to-day coordination of resources and technical support to make sure our operations are safe and compliant.
"After studying science at university I was glad to find a role where I can use the skills I gained," she says. "Gippsland Water has allowed me to pursue training to build my skill set, and I've always been supported to use my creativity to solve problems while at work."

Ryan - Senior Asset Engineering Leader
Ryan joined our team as a student engineer in 2016 through Monash University's Industry Placement Program.
Now, he's our Senior Asset Engineering Leader where he plays a key strategic and leadership role in managing the life cycle of our assets and infrastructure.
Ryan loves the variety in his role and the opportunities working for Gippsland Water brings.
"People often don't realise there are so many different types of roles available when you think about what we do as a business... but that's what I love about working for a major organisation in the region."

Bekk - Multi Skilled Operator
Bekk is one of our Multi Skilled Operators.
She started with us in 2020. Every day, she's out and about maintaining our water supply and wastewater systems.
Bekk's committed to delivering high quality customer service and loves working outdoors.
She says the favourite part of her job is "being able to provide great service to our customers, making sure they have safe and reliable drinking water."
