We’re planning for the future and expected growth in Traralgon, Morwell and surrounding towns with a series of major infrastructure projects that will strengthen the water supply to the towns.
We’re building a major water distribution main that will transfer treated water from the Traralgon water treatment plant to a new 50 megalitre treated water storage at our Clarke’s Rd site. We’re building the Clarke’s Road treated water storage at the same time we’re constructing the new water main.
The new main will run from Old Melbourne Road near Coopers Road to Hazelwood Road Traralgon
It means more treated water will be available for supplying Traralgon and the Traralgon water treatment plant doesn’t have to work as hard – especially during peak summer demand.
This project is the part of a bigger plan of works that will connect the Traralgon and Morwell water networks, further securing the water supply for Traralgon, Morwell and surrounding towns into the future.

More information
Customer benefits
The project will:
Resolve low water pressure concerns for Traralgon in the peak summer water demand.
Provide additional water supply for Traralgon and allow for future growth in the town.
Environment and cultural heritage
Like with all our works, we want to minimise environmental and cultural heritage impacts.
We’ll implement Construction Environmental Management Plans to ensure we don’t impact areas outside the construction zone.
We’ll use low impact construction techniques, such as underground boring rather than open trenching, in sensitive areas.
Consultation and engagement
We’ll be attending local events to give customers the chance to ask questions and learn why this project is important to securing the water supply for these towns into the future. Keep an eye out on this page and our social media pages for updates.
We’ll be regularly consulting with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
We welcome direct comments and enquiries from the community at any time.
Project timing
We expect this project to be complete by 2027-28.
