Michael - Gippsland Water Factory Senior Operator
Michael joined us fresh out of school as an Operations trainee at the Gippsland Water Factory.
During his traineeship, Michael gained on-the-job experience while completing Certificate III in Water Industry Operations.
Within seven months, Michael won a full-time position at the Gippsland Water Factory as a Wastewater Operator. Excitingly, Michael also won the Water Industry Operators Association (WIOA) Young Operator of the Year in 2020. He’s now a Senior Operator.
He loves the flexibility of working at Gippsland Water and being able to adjust each day to suit the conditions and preferences.
Michael's advice to young people aspiring to a career like his?
"Be positive and confident. It's always refreshing to interview someone that is sure of what they want to do. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after leaving school. But when I applied for the job I treated it as if it was my dream job by giving it my all."
