Traralgon - Tyers interconnect

Reducing maintenance with a new town connection

The Tyers system is currently served by two water treatment plants. These service the townships of Tyers, Glengarry, Toongabbie, Cowwarr, Rosedale and Willung.

Operating these two plants is more expensive than operating the Traralgon water treatment plant.

During extreme weather the Tyers water treatment plants have difficulty coping with turbidity during the water treatment. We have had to truck clean water into the system at times.

A new water pipeline connection between Traralgon and Glengarry will remove the customers in other towns from the Tyers system. This will provide a reliable water supply for these towns and reduce the number of customers relying on the Tyers treatment plants.

Construction is expected to commence in 2024-25.
