Batting for a good cause
Gippsland Water and maintenance partners Broadspectrum have again teamed up to raise a massive $11,000 at their second annual Pink Stumps 20/20 cricket match over the weekend.
Gippsland Water Managing Director Sarah Cumming acknowledged the huge effort of staff from both organisations, their partners and the broader community to achieve the outstanding fundraising result.
“In the last two years, the Broadspectrum and Gippsland Water teams have raised $20,000 for the McGrath Foundation through this event.
“This is very much a demonstration of the goodwill that exists between the two organisations, and shared sense of purpose to work with our local communities on health and wellbeing initiatives,” Ms Cumming said.
Broadspectrum Contract Manager Aaron Massaro said that while his team came off second best on the day, the event wasn’t really about winning.
“While the Gippsland Water team won the match, the biggest winner on the day was the McGrath Foundation,” Mr Massaro said.
Ms Cumming explained that while the event exceeded its fundraising goals, it was also an opportunity for relationships to be strengthened between the teams.
“As our electrical and maintenance contractor, the Broadspectrum crew works closely with our team – so this event is as much about coming together, enjoying a day out and getting to know each other better,” Ms Cumming concluded.
Pink Stumps Day raises funds for the McGrath Foundation, which focuses on ensuring every family experiencing breast cancer has access to a breast care nurse.
