Gippsland Water is asking customers in Maffra, Stratford and Boisdale to conserve water where they can and put off non-essential water use.
Flooding in the Maffra area has stirred up the Macalister River, resulting in higher demand on the Maffra water treatment plant which is impacting treatment capacity.
Gippsland Water assures customers that their water is still safe to drink.
The timeframe for returning to full treatment capacity is not yet known and further updates will be provided.
