Gippsland Water funding supports local health facility
Gippsland Rotary Centenary House has installed a new water tank to help reduce operating costs, with funding from Gippsland Water.
The project, which was funded through Gippsland Water’s 2018-19 community support program, will allow rain water to be captured and used to service toilets, washing machines and gardens.
Gippsland Water acting managing director Angelo Saridis said it was pleasing to see the funding used to benefit a facility that provides an important service to the local community.
“The Gippsland Rotary Centenary House has a long history of providing support and accommodation to Gippsland-based oncology patients and families in times of need.
“We’re pleased to help them continue this work,” Mr Saridis said.
Centenary House operations manager Carol Crewe expressed appreciation for Gippsland Water’s contribution.
“The tank will help us reduce costs by using rain water instead of quality drinking water for some utilities. It will also help us maintain the gardens that are a haven for guests, making their stay more relaxing,” Ms Crewe said.
The water tank was installed in May 2019.
Gippsland Water’s 2018-19 community support program also provided funding for Mirboo North Golf Club to implement an irrigation system, and Bug Blitz Trust to educate local students on waterway health.
