Have your say on Moe community donation
Gippsland Water is reaching out to customers affected by a precautionary boil water alert earlier this year to help decide how a $5,000 community donation might best be spent in their area.
The alert was issued in February following storm damage at the Moe water treatment plant.
Managing director Sarah Cumming said the decision to donate funds to a community initiative was made in consultation with Gippsland Water customers.
“We promised our customers in 2017 that if a boil water event took place, we’d donate $5,000 to a community initiative in the affected area as compensation.”
Proposals were received from four community organisations in November outlining how they would use the funds to benefit the community.
“We’re inviting people in Moe and surrounding areas to help us decide how this donation should be spent by completing a short online survey.
“This is a great opportunity for customers to help us ensure we’re supporting a local cause that matters to them,” Ms Cumming concluded.
The survey closes 11.59pm Sunday 3 January and a decision will be announced in late January.
