Gippsland Water is urging customers in Maffra and Sale to put off any non-essential water use.
Flooding in the area is preventing access to water treatment plants and impacting water treatment capacity.
Customers can help to conserve current water storages by temporarily delaying washing machine and dishwasher use, taking a shorter shower (aim for 4 minutes) and avoiding using baths.
