Gippsland Water has teamed up with water corporations from around the state to deliver a new online educational experience for this year’s National Water Week program.

Gippsland Water managing director Sarah Cumming said the inaugural week-long online learning festival is a significant step forward into new technologies and teaching approaches for the organisation’s long-running education program.

“Every National Water Week, we look forward to engaging with the youngest members of our community about the value of water and why it’s so important,” Ms Cumming said.

“While we’d usually be out and about at events and in classrooms, we’ve had to think outside the box this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The online festival will include a theatrical performance, story time videos, hands-on experiments, mindfulness activities, live webinars, worksheets and more.

“The festival’s activities and events are designed especially for kids and will suit a range of ages, interests, topics and learning goals.

“Most importantly, we hope they’ll have a bit of fun while engaging in the important topic of water,” Ms Cumming said.

Teachers and students can visit gippswater.com.au/nww2020 to participate in the festival.

National Water Week makes a splash across Australia during the third week of October each year.

This year National Water Week runs from 19 – 25 October.
