Staying safe, while providing essential water and wastewater services

Gippsland Water is reassuring customers it will continue to provide essential water and wastewater services and its priority was keeping employees and community safe.

Managing director Sarah Cumming said while community members may see Gippsland Water employees out and about, additional precautionary measures had been put in place.

“As an essential service provider, it’s important that we continue with our work.

“Customers may see our employees and contractors on the street carrying out repairs or upgrades to water and wastewater services.

“We may need to enter customers’ properties to access assets such as the manhole or water meter to complete inspections or repairs so that we can restore essential water and wastewater services.

“We assure you that we’re following all recommended hygiene and social distancing practices – and we ask our customers to do the same.”

Ms Cumming said employees across Gippsland Water were following all recommendations.

“We’re washing our hands regularly, disinfecting surfaces and maintaining a distance of at least 1.5 metres from others.

“We’re well prepared and we’ll continue to supply safe drinking water and wastewater services to homes and businesses.”
