Water main upgrades to support growth in Traralgon east
Gippsland Water will soon start works to replace water mains at the level crossings on Liddiard and McNairn Roads in Traralgon.
Managing Director Sarah Cumming said the works involved replacing sections of aging pipeline to support ongoing residential growth in the eastern areas of Traralgon.
“A new water main will be constructed under the rail line at both locations,” Ms Cumming said.
“These works are part of our water main renewal program which aims to progressively replace water mains that have reached, or are nearing, the end of their useful lives,” Ms Cumming said.
“The upgrades will also support commercial and residential development taking place in east of Traralgon.
Traffic speeds will be reduced during the works at both Liddiard Rd and McNairn Rd. Traffic will also be reduced to one lane at McNairn Rd, with temporary traffic lights controlling the flow for each direction.
Ms Cumming said the works are expected to commence in March and take up to twelve weeks to complete.
“We appreciate this will inconvenience some local road-users and thank them for their understanding,” Ms Cumming said.
Nearby residents, businesses, clubs and schools will be advised of details of the works and impacts.
The total cost for the projects is expected to be approximately $1M, with local Gippsland contractors carrying out the bulk of the work.
